Mr. President,
Since coming to power in 2018—and after orchestrating a deadly coup in 2009—Madagascar’s current leader, Andry Rajoelina, has continuously sought financial aid from various U.S. organizations. The United States has provided Madagascar with billions of dollars in assistance, yet the country remains one of the poorest in the world.
It is time to investigate how these funds have been used. Despite receiving substantial financial support, Madagascar’s leadership has failed to improve the living conditions of its people. Instead, vast amounts of money have reportedly been wasted on extravagant events, entertainment, and projects that do little to alleviate poverty or promote sustainable development.
The people of Madagascar deserve transparency and accountability. As a champion of strong leadership and fiscal responsibility, we urge you to call for an audit of the financial aid provided to Madagascar. Investigate President Rajoelina and his administration to determine how U.S. taxpayer money has been spent. If mismanagement or corruption is found, demand an explanation and seek reimbursement for the funds that have been squandered.
The United States has always been a beacon of justice and fairness. Your leadership can help ensure that American aid is used for the benefit of the people, not to enrich a select few. We trust that you will take the necessary steps to hold Madagascar’s government accountable.
Sincerely,
