Mega FAM Trip 2026: Mauritius Intensifies Global Tourism Outreach
85 International Tourism Experts to Experience Mauritius Beyond the Brochures
The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) will place Mauritius at the centre of the international tourism spotlight with the organization of the Mega FAM Trip 2026, (FAM standing for Familiarization) a large-scale strategic tourism initiative bringing together 85 influential travel professionals from major global markets from 24 to 29 May 2026.
The Mega FAM Trip is a strategic tourism initiative that transforms firsthand destination experiences into stronger international partnerships, increased global exposure and future business opportunities through influential tourism professionals and media ambassadors. Bringing together leading tour operators, travel agents, destination specialists, media representatives and tourism partners from Europe, Africa, Asia and the Indian Ocean region, the Mega FAM Trip represents one of the most significant destination marketing operations organized by Mauritius in recent years.
Participants from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, South Africa, India, Réunion and South Korea will embark on an immersive journey across Mauritius to discover the island’s diversity, authenticity and premium tourism experiences. The initiative offers Mauritius a strategic opportunity to strengthen its international competitiveness by showcasing the richness of its tourism product through curated experiences in gastronomy, luxury hospitality, culture, heritage, wellness, adventure, nature, lagoon activities and golf.
The programme will officially begin on Sunday 24 May with a launch event at L’Aventure du Sucre, followed by three days of immersive destination experiences across Mauritius. A major highlight will be the high-level networking session on Thursday 28 May 2026 at InterContinental Mauritius Resort Balaclava Fort, bringing together international tourism buyers and Mauritian industry stakeholders to encourage new partnerships and business opportunities. The event will conclude with a gala dinner at Les Palétuviers, celebrating Mauritian hospitality and strengthened international tourism ties.
The Mega FAM Trip 2026 also reflects growing regional tourism cooperation between Mauritius and South Africa, with renewed efforts to enhance air connectivity and drive regional tourism growth.
The MTPA successfully organized a Mega FAM Trip from 15–19 November 2021, following the reopening of Mauritius’ borders. It brought together 109 tourism professionals from 12 countries and played a key role in reconnecting Mauritius with global markets while strengthening confidence in the destination during the post-pandemic recovery.
As Mauritius continues to strengthen its position as a world-class island destination, Mega FAM Trip 2026 reflects the country’s commitment to expanding its global tourism visibility, reinforcing strategic partnerships and driving long-term economic benefits. The success of this initiative also depends on the collective support of all stakeholders, including hotels, DMCs, airlines and the local media, whose contribution will help further showcase Mauritius on the international stage.
